Dental Implants in Sacramento

In the past few decades, dental implant procedures in Sacramento, California, have quickly become one of the most popular tooth replacement options dentists offer. Dr. Narinder Mahal and the team at Land Park Dental are proud to provide safe, durable, and long-lasting dental implants to patients who visit our office. Dental implants offer numerous benefits which other tooth replacement options cannot match. Implants restore the entire structure of the missing tooth, acting as a root. This protects the jawbone’s health while providing you with full functionality and a natural feel. If you are ready to find out if you are a suitable candidate for a dental implant in Sacramento, please do not hesitate to schedule a consultation with Dr. Mahal and his team today.

What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small, titanium post surgically implanted into the jawbone to simulate a missing tooth’s root. Because our dental implants are biocompatible, they will fuse to the jawbone to provide incredible strength and durability. This process, called osseointegration, can take several weeks to complete after the procedure takes place. Once this has been completed, a customized tooth restoration, such as a crown, will be placed onto an abutment attached to the implant.

What You Can Expect

The dental implant process consists of roughly four steps.

  1. Initial Consult: You will visit Dr. Mahal for an initial consultation. X-rays will likely need to be taken, and at this time, our team will want to learn about your goals and what you would like to get out of restoring your smile. Dr. Mahal will walk you through the dental implant process so you know what to expect.
  2. The Surgery: The surgical insertion of the implant into the jaw will occur. Recovery time will be several weeks.
  3. Osseointegration & Abutment: Once your implant(s) has been placed, the osseointegration process will begin, during which your jaw and the implant will fuse together. This occurs as the incision site heals. Once healed, an abutment will be attached, to which a tooth restoration can then be fastened.
  4. Final Restoration: Once your restoration is ready, usually a crown, you will come in for your final appointment. During this appointment, the restoration will be attached to the abutment, completing the dental implant process.
